Interiors

This is a collection of some different projects that I have put together over my years attending Liberty University. Click on each picture for a detailed description.

Tiny House Project

This project was my very last interior design project at Liberty University. Included in this post are all of the stages that it took to create this project. Starting with the mood board, which displays pictures that inspire the design. Next is the concept sketches board, which showcases different ideas that I would love to include in the space that were quickly sketched out. The rest are materials boards, these show the different finishes and materials that I have selected to be placed in the space. It also has a board which has the hand rendered floor plan, as well as some images of the space that I turned into a 3D mode utilizing sketch-up. We were given a dimension for our tiny house and told to come up with a floor plan and style to really optimize space and whatever feeling we were wanting to portray for our client. I chose to go with a Moroccan traveler vibe. I love this design, and really poured my heart and soul into it. It was important to me to be able to bring the colors of the outdoors in. I did so by utilizing the grays that are seen in fogs, coppers that are seen in campfires, blues that are seen in waters, and tans that are seen in woods and sands. This design was one of my favorites that I have done so far!

Student Housing Project

For this project we were required to create a dorm room design. Some of the requirements was to have an ADA compliant bathroom, a room that can promote self expression, a room that includes privacy, a small kitchenette, closet space and a study area. I chose to create a lofted bed area to provide a private study nook for both students underneath their beds. The beds are styled to be "floating" and supported by cables and an underneath support brace. I chose cool, and soothing colors to leave room for self expression for the students to add their own styles into the space. I also created a 3D model showcasing the lofted bed and study area for a perspective look into the space. I enjoyed hand rendering my floor plan as well as my concept sketches with mostly markers and a touch of colored pencil. Overall this was a very fun project to complete.

Virginia Furniture Market Design Challenge

During my sophomore year, I was given the opportunity to participate in a group project for the Virginia Furniture Market. The goal of the project was to design a small section of their showroom, showing off their products to boost sales. This was by far one of my favorite projects to be apart of while at Liberty University. It taught me how to work well with others when placed in a situation where teamwork was essential. I also learned how to listen to the requests of the client, and bring them to life.

Travel Nursery Design

This project was near and dear to me. I was given the chance to come alongside with my sister and design a nursery for my beautiful niece Luna. The client really loved lavender for the main color, and chose mostly light coral accents. She wanted to go off of a travel theme, as well as have different moon pieces present, to play off of her name. My husband actually hand crafted the moon cradle based on the picture I showed him out of the mood board. We wanted to provide inspiration for her to grow up and travel wherever she wishes to, and provide her with a calming space to grow, and learn.

Kitchen Project

This was one of my very first major projects at Liberty University. I created this design in the beginning of my sophomore year. We were give dimensions of a kitchen, and told to design and create it in whatever way we would like. This kitchen was huge so it was very fun to work with. We were told to hand draw, and render our images. It was required to draft the floor plan, as well as two to four elevations. My favorite part of this room would have to be the beautiful sliding windows with the sink right in front of it. They bring in so much natural light, as well as provide a space to be able to see out in the yard and connect with the family while they are playing outside.

Rendering Project

For this project, we had to render this floor plan based on two different color schemes, analogous, and complimentary. For my analogous color scheme plan I chose to use red, blue, and purple. I applied the blue to the comforter by using a buffalo check plaid print. Next I used the shade of red in the lamp covers, as well as the embroidered flower print on the pillow cases. Last I chose to apply a shade of berry purple to the chair. For my complimentary color scheme I chose to do red, and green. I applied the green to the dressers in the space, as well as the detail on the comforter. For the red tint, I applied them to the lampshades, and the chair.
